SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
School Business
K-8 ENROLLMENT: 132
STUDENT ATTENDANCE: 96.1% for April
FOODSERVICE: In April (17 total days), we served 678 (average 40/day) breakfasts, 912 (average 54/day) lunches, and 66 (average 4/day average) a la cart items.
Summer Office hours will begin on May 23rd.
The office will be open Monday – Thursday from 8:00 – 1:00 daily.
FACILITIES
The rekeying of internal doors has started but hasn’t been completed. They are tentatively scheduled to return on May 23rd to finish. We are also finding errors in the keying schematics that must be fixed. I have told Toni not to cut a check until all work, including the errors, has been completed. I have also been working with McKinstry on upcoming summer work, and projects will begin on May 28, 2024.

NEW BUSINESS
1. The Board approved the purchase of new ELA resources for 2024-2025 school year.
2. Dr. Mayfield presented the 2024-2025 Preliminary Budget. Budget cuts were discussed due to increased tuition numbers.
3. The Board approved the 2024-2025 Certified Salary Schedule, including the Governor’s Salary Grant.
4. The Board voted 4-1 to non-renew our contract with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office for a part-time SRO. The Sheriff’s Office will still provide services when needed, and DARE will still be offered to our 5th-grade students. This saves the district $23,000/year.
5. The Board voted 5-0 to reduce our HES Facilities Management contract. This will reduce our custodial and maintenance staff to one full-time person. This saves the district $33,000/year.
6. The Board voted 5-0 to approve our Apptegy (website and app software) Contract for the 2024-2025 school year.
7. The Board voted 5-0 to increase meal prices for the 2024-2025 school year.

8. The Board voted 5-0 to approve the changes to Regulation 2310-Student Attendance.
9. The Board voted 5-0 to approve the updates for the Policy 5550-Meal Charges. This update adds a nondiscrimination clause to the policy. It is a Federal requirement.
10. The Board voted 5-0 to approve the 2023-2024 surplus property list. The items for bid are listed on the district website. Directions on how to bid can also be found on the website.
The board voted to go into closed session following the regular meeting in compliance with 620.021 RSMo for the following purposes:
